David Hasegawa

Vice President, Device Development

David has served as Vice President, Device Development since January 2019. He joined Alexza in 2016 as Head of Device Engineering. Prior to joining Alexza, David was Vice President of Product Development at ApoCell, a private biotech company, Vice President of Product Development at BC Tech, a private medical device design and manufacturing company, and Device Director at Novo Nordisk Delivery Technologies, a subsidiary of Novo Nordisk with focus on aerosol delivery technologies. David received an MS in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Engineering Science from the University of California, Berkeley. David also holds a professional engineering license from the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.

Stacy Palermini

Vice President, Sustainability

Stacy has served as our Vice President, Sustainability since April 2022. Stacy served as our Senior Vice President, Finance from 2020 to 2022, as Vice President, Finance from 2015 to 2020 and as Corporate Secretary from 2015 to 2022. She served as Executive Director, Finance from 2011 to 2015, as Senior Director, Finance from 2007 to 2011, as Director, Finance from 2005 to 2007, and as Controller from 2003 to 2005. From 1996 to 2003, Stacy held various positions of increasing responsibilities in finance and accounting at various companies, and worked nine years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a public accounting firm, prior to joining industry.

Wolfgang Schmidt, PhD

Vice President, Manufacturing and Operations

Wolfgang has served as VP, Manufacturing and Operations at Alexza since May 2019, bringing to the role more than 20 years of experience in research, development, and commercialization of pharmaceutical products. Prior to joining Alexza, Wolfgang was VP, CMC Development and Supply Chain Management at Tricida, Inc. Earlier, he worked in the drug delivery space as VP of Manufacturing and Supply at The Medicines Company. Wolfgang also held development and management positions at Alexza Pharmaceuticals and Bayer Corporation prior to these roles. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he graduated as a Fuqua Scholar.

Dan Myers, PhD

Vice President, Product Research & Development

Dan re-joined Alexza in June 2022 as VP, Product Research & Development. He comes with more than 20 years of experience in research, development, and commercialization of semiconductor, pharmaceutical and consumer electronic products. Dan was one of the very first scientists at Alexza, starting in 2001, and contributed to the discovery and subsequent development of the technology and science behind the Staccato® system. Between 2014 – 2022, Dan served in senior leadership roles in research and development teams within the consumer product industry and co-founded a regulatory consulting company. He has a PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University, where he was awarded a National Science Foundation graduate fellowship.
